Labutis, Grintšuk and Markovskis have been crowned in Riga`s stage

The second stage of Mezz Cues Baltic Pool League 2023 was held in freshly renovated Bams Pool House in Riga, Latvia. After two days of hard work the winners were Pijus Labutis (Lithuania) in men’s division, Anna Grintśuk (EST) in women’s division and Tauno Markovskis (EST) in oldboy’s division.

Labutis on top

The men’s division did not offer much of a surprise as one of the best Baltic players Pijus Labutis took the trophy. In the final he was up against Joonas Saska (EST) and did not let his fans down as he cruised to a comfortable 8:1 win.  The third places went to Rainer Laar (EST) and Jokubas Silantjevas (LIT).

Grintšuk showed the class

Anna Grintśuk is slowly but firmly making back her way to being one of the top players in the Baltic region. She showed some good shooting as she won the final against Agne Jarusauskaite by a score 6:2. The third places went to Daria Cheprasova (NED) who gave a good fight against Grintśuk in her semi-final and to last stage winner Simona Milisauskaite (LIT).

There is new oldboy in town

Tauno Markovskis has been long around, but never quite made his mark in Baltics. It is nice to see that he has comfortably won the final against Witold Źarowski (POL) by a score 6:3. The sensation of the last season Ivo Ulmanis (LAT) was beaten by Markovskis in the semi-final and Źarowski was better of Martins Rusis in his semi-final.

Great event in Riga

Riga and Bam’s Pool House is always a nice place to be and the total of 109 players is an obvious stamp of it. Big gratitude goes out to Bams Pool House and all their staff.

The organisers thank all the athletes, volunteers, fans and all other people and companies that were part of another enjoyable event. Additional gratitude to Estonian Billiard Federation, Latvian Billiard Federation and Lithuanian Pool Federation.
