Congratulation to the winners

The second stage of Mezz Cues Baltic Pool League was held in the nice city of Kaunas, in the modern Arena Billiard Club. A total of 82 players from all Baltic countries and Finland participated in the event. This time the gold medals went to Petri Makkonen (FIN), Agne Jarushauskaite (LIT) and Ivo Ulmanis (LAT).

Finnish ice in Kaunas
Petri Makkonen and Pijus Labutis (LIT) were the two top Euro Tour ranking players in the event, and it was no coincidence that these two battled it out in the final. Makkonen reached quite comfortably the final after he had an early scare in the first round as he won last stage winner Raimo Teesaar on hill-hill. Pijus Labutis on the other hand got his first scare only in the final as this was his first hill-hill of the event. After an entertaining final, it was the Finn who kept it cool as ice and took the gold 8:7. The best Estonian was Joonas Saska winning the bronze medal and the second bronze went to Lithuanian representative Audrius Michelkevichius.

Jarushauskaite kept the cool
In the women’s event, the final saw two of the Lithuanian top players Agne Jarusauskaite, and last events winner Simona Milishauskaite playing a very tense match which ended up hill-hill deciding the winner. This time Jarushauskaite kept her cool and took the gold. Third place went to Diana Jelinskiene (LIT) and Gintare Gauliene (LIT).

The Oldboy is back
The repeat of the last stage final between Latvian players Ivo Ulmanis and Guntars Timmermannis which the latter one won promised to be a real gem. The match really offered many exciting moments and ended up with Ulmanis taking back the best Oldboy title 7:5. Third place was won by Nerijus Benevićius (LIT) and Gatis Taube (LAT).
