MEZZ CUES BALTIC POOL LEAGUE 2024 GRAND FINAL

The last and most prestigious grand final stage of the Mezz Cues Baltic Pool League 2024 was held in the fantastic Hill Hill Poolclub in Tallinn, Estonia. As exciting as the whole season was the grand final was not any different. The winners were Mark Mägi (EST) in open, Anna Prisjaźnuka (LAT) in women, Tauno Markovskis (EST) in seniors, Denis Grabe (EST) in pro and Sander Tamm (EST) in mini division.

The unbeatable Mägi and consistent Maimre

Mägi was the true winner of the grand final as he won all his matches and the only one coming close to beating him was the young Lithuanian hotshot Jokubas Silantjevas in the semi-final as he managed to win 8 against Mägi’s 11 racks. In the final Mägi showed real class and was better of compatriot Erki Erm with a score 11:6. Same as Mägi, Erm did earn his spot in the final as he as well did not lose any matches. In his semi-final he had a quite smooth win over Gert Maimre (EST) 11:5. Regardless of the loss Maimre has shown good consistency throughout the season as he is the overall ranking winner of the Mezz Cues Baltic Pool League 2024.

Anna or Anna part 2

The final of the women event presented us the rematch of the last stage final as Anna Prisjaźnuka and  Anna Grintśuk (EST) were in the final. On the contrary to the last final where Prisjaźnuka was a firm winner this time she had to really show her masterclass, and she really did that. In her semi-final she was trailing 1:5 against Simona Milisauskaite (LIT), but still managed to win 9:6. The final turned out to be event more thrilling as she was trailing against Grintśuk 2:7 and 4:8, but still managed to showcase a fighting comeback and win 9:8. Grintśuk on the other hand had a comfortable semi-final win against upcoming Estonian player Anastasia Losseva 9:5. However for Grintśuk this season was amazing as with her consistency of winning one gold, two silver and two bronze medals throughout the season gave her the overall ranking winner title.

The Markovskis shout

The heading says it all how much winning the final over one of the best league players Maciej Trudnowksi (POL) meant for Tauno Markovskis denying Trudnowskis hat trick of winning three events in the row. Both finalists had a very tough semi-final as they both won them 9:8, Markovskis against Girts Aivars (LAT) and Trudnowski against Guntars Timermanis (LAT). As expected, the final was a real thriller with ups and downs, but Markovskis was the man of the evening with 9:7 final score. Trudnowski however did not have to feel very bitter as due to his efforts throughout the season he became the ranking winner of the season.

Grabe’s class

Denis Grabe, who had to miss the grand final due to his international tournament commitments still managed to participate in the Friday’s pro event. Denying Mägi’s perfect weekend Grabe won the exiting final 8:6 against Mägi. Two Lithuanian stars Kestutis Źadeikis and Jokubas Silantjevas placed third.

Young Tamm to win the mini

It is always nice to see youngsters getting on the podium and in this case it was the highest step of the podium. Namely young Sander Tamm won the mini event and had to beat in the final a seasoned player Aleksandr Jermikimov (EST). The third places were taken by Gert Gnadeberg and Roman Kusemko from Estonia.

Always pleasant Hill Hill Pool Club

The always pleasant Hill Hill Pool Club offered the players a very good playing experience with brand new tables. However, not only the tables were top class, but the atmosphere and staff as well. Therefore, another great event held and big thank you to all the staff and management of Hill Hill Pool Club.
