MEZZ CUES BALTIC POOL LEAGUE 2023 STAGE FOUR

The Mezz Cues Baltic Pool League has reached the final qualification event which was held in a classy Uptown Billiards club in Vilnius, Lithuania. All three days were full of fun and sporty events with good mood. The main event was won by Kestutis Žadeikis (LTU), women’s division by Anna Prisjazhnuka (LAT), and senior event was won by Guntars Timermanis (LAT). As to the mini side event, it was yet again won by Kestutis Žadeikis.

Žadeikis on fire

After nicely securing the mini side event Žadeikis continued his good roll by winning the main event as well. In the final he had a tough opponent, the reigning world youth champion, Karl Gnadeberg (EST) who gave Žadeikis good resistance. Nevertheless, it was Žadeikis who got over the finish line first with a score 8:5. Gnadeberg was very convincing in his semi-final as he won another young gun Jokubas Silantjevas (LTU) with a score 8:2. Žadeikis on the other hand had to sweat in his semi-final as Vitalijs Śpaks (LAT) showed great resilience as the final score was 8:6 for Žadeikis.

Prisjazhnuka is class on her own

The final of the women’s division was as correct as it could be. Prisjazhnuka showed her class by winning the semi-final against Agne Jarusauskaite (LIT) 6:0 and Simona Milišauskaitė (LTU) was not far behind as she won over Gintarė Gaulienė 6:1. Therefore, the stage was set for an entertaining final, and how entertaining it really turned out to be. The game went to hill-hill in which Prisjazhnuka had the final say as she clinched the gold medal 6:5.

Timermanis with another hill-hill for Latvia

After little stumble in round 3 losing against Janne Sallinen (FIN), Timermanis showed steady playing until final in which he had to dig deep to get the win. It was Maciej Trudnowski (POL) who gave Timmermanis really tough time. However, Timermanis handled the pressure and eventually won 6:5. Sallinen, the only player who won against the winner of the event, had to face Trudnowski in the semi-final. After some steady shooting Trudnowski managed to win 6:3. Timermanis managed to win his semi-final by the same score against Martinś Rusis.

Mini is always entertaining

The Friday evening mini event is always a nice way to start the tournament weekend. Žadeikis was really on fire this weekend as he won the mini event final by 4:0 over Sallinen. Aleksandrs Horsuns (LAT) and Jokubas Silantjevas were the ones on the bronze medals.
